Home for the holidays

Humane Society Silicon Valley wants its adoptable pets to find a home for the holidays. To that end, all adult dogs 40 pounds and heavier and adult cats six months and older can be adopted for $ 20 until January 2.

The furry friends can be found at the Peter Detkin and Michelle Oates Detkin Animal Community Center, 901 Ames Ave. For hours and more information visit hssv.org/homeforholidays.

Small business grants

On December 7, the Santa Clara County Supervisory Board approved the allocation of $ 20 million for a small business takeover grant program. The funds come from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, also known as the COVID-19 Stimulus Package.

Supervisor Susan Ellenberg, who represents Campbell and the Cambrian region of San Jose, made the recommendation. Supervisor Otto Lee, who represents Sunnyvale and Milpitas, was his co-sponsor.

The recommendation also includes an extension of a county license fee waiver for small businesses until 2022.
