JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.

Here are two.

Sarabi is a one year old female American Staffordshire mix who is mostly white with tan markings. She is smaller in size and features the adorable one ear up and one ear down.

Sarabi is nervous at the shelter because all the noise is new to her. She is a sweet girl who likes attention and is rather calm. If you have a little patience and can build trust with this shy girl, she will become your best friend.

Stew is a sweet 14 year old male tiger cat with white markings. His owner has passed away and he is looking for a new home and a new life.

Stew will give you a head butt, just to remind you that he loves being petted. It also does the flip on your back in case you want to do a tummy massage. You can tell that Stew was once truly loved by his owner and is ready to make a new best friend.

An encounter with a dog is mandatory. A guided chat room tour is available to test the reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchipping and neutering.

Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccines, and neutering.

It’s always best to visit the shelter, but other adoption resources include online applications at https://www.co.jackson.mi.us/2302/Our-Adoptable-Animalsby faxing 517-780-4750 or emailing [email protected]
