“We’re having our ‘very spooky Halloween party’,” Johnson said. “We’re going to have a costume contest, treats for the kids and we’ll also be doing treats for the dogs, where people can walk the shelter dogs and take them. to different bowls of treats. We’ll have a few games, the fancy dress contest … a basket with cat stuff in it and one with dog stuff to take home to your own pets. Adoption fees will also be 50% from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thus, the whole day of opening, the adoption fees will be half price.

Participants are encouraged to dress in their best costumes, human and animal. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the Halloween festivities while helping the animals at the shelter find their forever home.

“We’re a little overcrowded here at the shelter and we need to get animals adopted,” Johnson said. “We’ve had animals here for a few months that are absolutely perfect and they just need to be adopted. They just have, they have nowhere to go. So we’re doing this adoption event to try to get these animals that have been here for a while for adoption.
