San Andreas, CA⦠Meet Samantha, an adorable white and brown tabby adult of about 3 years old. She arrived at the shelter as a wanderer and unfortunately no one came to pick her up. A tall girl tipping the scales at nearly 12 pounds, Samantha has an easy-going personality and thrives on attention. She loves to be brushed and shows great promise as a sweet kitten. She is very personable and always eager to meet new people, gently giving head to her arm or leg to collect a pat or scratch behind her ears. We believe Samantha will make a wonderful companion or family cat in most homes where she will be filled with the love and care she deserves.
As with all cats available for adoption, Samantha is up to date with her routine vaccinations and has been microchipped. Already sterilized, she can go home today!

Currently, the Calaveras Refuge remains open to visitors wishing to adopt. However, we limit viewing to one person at a time for COVID precautions. Please understand that there may be a wait to see the animals at the shelter, many of whom are still waiting for their homes forever during this pandemic. Adoptable animals can also be found on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.
Volunteers are also in great demand. Whether you can donate a little time or a lot, we would appreciate your help with taking care of the animals in the shelter or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and tailor you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.
Animal Services now has a flexible fee program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at or above 80% capacity,
the total adoption fee will be 50% – reduced to $ 40 for dogs and $ 30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats arriving at the shelter already modified is $ 10. With the 55-5-5 program, each time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts an animal over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $ 5.
