DELAFIELD, Wisconsin – (BUSINESS WIRE) – July 21, 2021–
Synthetaic, the leading synthetic data company, today announced a partnership with the Anderson Lab at the University of Wake Forest on a pilot project to automatically tag images from Snapshot Serengeti – one of the largest libraries in camera traps in Africa. The collaboration will serve as a proof of concept for Synthetaic’s Rapid Automatic Image Categorization Tool (RAIC), specifically in building an AI model for classifying and counting animal species without the need for s ” engage in the process of manual labeling labor, which can take thousands of man-hours.
“Snapshot Serengeti is one of the best-known and most comprehensive image libraries available to researchers around the world, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with them,” said Corey Jaskolski, CEO of Synthetaic. “Our goal with this first proof of concept is to show that it is possible to create a robust AI model without labeled data – using RAIC – to quickly and accurately classify animal species and counts, and with it, increase and accelerate the range of the application dataset. “
Snapshot Serengeti was launched in 2010 with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the Serengeti ecosystem and, with it, gaining valuable insight into the behavior of some of Africa’s most elusive wildlife. The project allows researchers to better understand the complex interactions within the Serengeti ecosystem, including predator-prey relationships, migration patterns, etc.
Snapshot Serengeti is widely used by the science and conservation community to monitor, manage and report on wildlife. The collaboration between Synthetaic and Wake Forest University will focus on building an AI model to quickly classify images without manual labeling. The goal is to prove the technology’s applications in curatorial image data before extending it to other datasets.
“Hand-tagging images – especially when you’re talking about millions – is an incredibly time-consuming process,” said T. Michael Anderson, senior researcher at the Anderson Lab at Wake Forest University. “Our team is exploring the mechanisms of disease and parasite transmission in grazing animals in the Serengeti, and we are eager to see how Synthetaic’s RAIC tool can help accelerate our research efforts and gain information faster. . “

About the synthesis
Synthetaic is the leader in synthetic data. We produce high quality data that unlocks an impossible AI.
In some of AI’s most important use cases, islet samples have hindered high-quality predictive modeling. There simply wasn’t enough data to effectively train the networks, both for still and moving images in particular.
With Synthetaic, you no longer have to wait to accumulate enough data to start the AI project of your dreams. Nor is it necessary to spend a fortune to acquire a new treasure of data. We bridge the gap between the data rich people and everyone else.
