ENID, Okla. – Garfield County Detention Center will host a “Jail & Bail” fundraiser on Saturday, November 5, 2022, to benefit the Enid SPCA.

Jamie Bearden, human resources manager at the prison, said the event was a fun way for staff to get involved in the community.

“A lot of us here have huge hearts for the community,” she said.

Anyone can participate – individuals, businesses, groups and organizations – in the “Jail & Bail” fundraiser, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jail, 1020 S. 10th.

The way it works, Bearden said, is that community members will be “arrested” and placed in a fake jail cell outside the facility.

Participants will then need to be ‘bailed out’, with the amount set to the amount of money they wish to raise. Family members, friends or other members of the community can then put down their “bond” to donate to the cause.

All funds raised will go to Enid SPCA.

Adoptable animals from Enid SPCA and Enid Animal Welfare will also be at the event on Saturday, and their “deposit” amount, which is their adoption fee, can also be displayed.

To participate in the “Jail & Bail” fundraiser, contact Bearden by calling (580) 616-3332. More information can be found by visiting the GCDF Facebook page, which shows some of the adoptable animals and community members who have already signed up to donate and been “arrested”.
