LOCK HAVEN – Submissions have been made, votes have been tallied and the winners have been announced in The Express’ first-ever pet photo contest.
The contest, which took place online, lasted for weeks and saw several local pet owners show off their best friends.
The competition took place just months after the Express moved its annual Readers Choice Awards to an online format. According to advertising manager Jordan McCloskey, this has helped launch new initiatives like this.
“L’Express has worked very hard to expand our online capabilities. After the successful migration of Readers’ Choice to online voting, I started thinking about more fun things we could do to engage readers,” McCloskey said.
The choice to feature readers’ pets was easy. “Animals and pets are almost universally loved”, McCloskey said. “I enjoyed browsing through all the entries as they came in. I had even chosen my own favorite pet photo, but unfortunately I couldn’t enter.”
Overall, McCloskey was pleased with the turnout and looks forward to providing readers with more fun contests like this. “The possibilities are limitless,” he said.
A total of 90 pets participated in the contest. Readers had the chance to vote more than once for their favorite four-legged friend. Two-year-old Remi Rosh, a beagle/lab mix was the lucky winner of this year’s contest with 120 votes.
Remi’s owner had this to say about the energetic boy: “He has a lot of energy but he is also happy to cuddle up. We adopted him about 8 months ago and he fits right into our family. His favorite things to do are take walks, play massage the belly and make fun of anyone with food.
After Remi, Niko, Ruby, Teagan O’Donald, Joey, Trixie, Rover, Jackie O, Willow and Sir Winston. Take a look at each of their photos and learn a little more about these four-legged best friends.
