San Andreas, CA… Meet Victor, an adorable black and white tuxedo kitten named after the “V” upside down on his forehead. An older kitten, Victor is as sweet as they come and guaranteed to steal your heart. He absolutely adores everyone and follows visitors to his common room like a puppy as if to say, “Take me! Take me! ”He also has a very loud purr and small meow that he rarely uses. Playful and active, Victor would probably fit into most homes where he can be showered with love and attention.

Victor is up to date with his routine immunizations and has been microchipped. Already neutered, he can return home today!

Currently, the Calaveras Refuge remains open to visitors wishing to adopt. However, we limit viewing to one person at a time due to COVID precautions. Please understand that there may be a wait to see the animals at the shelter, many of whom are still waiting for their homes forever. Adoptable animals can also be found on the web at and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are also in great demand. Whether you can donate a little time or a lot, we would appreciate your help with taking care of the animals in the shelter or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and tailor you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a flexible fee program!

When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at or above 80% capacity,
the total adoption fee will be 50% – reduced to $ 40 for dogs and $ 30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats arriving at the shelter already modified is $ 10. With the 55-5-5 program, each time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts an animal over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $ 5.
